Northern Mooring Services
About us
We are equipped with our purpose-built 8-metre trailable commercial vessel operated by experienced marine professionals, we offer responsive, high-quality servicing for private, commercial, and club moorings. Whether you require scheduled inspection, urgent repair, sunken moorings or complete mooring relocation, we deliver reliable solutions backed by local expertise and a commitment to safety and performance.
We care about the environment
We are committed to protecting Tasmania’s fragile marine environments. Every mooring influences the health of our coastal ecosystems, so we ensure our work supports long-term environmental sustainability. Our installation, servicing, and maintenance practices follow industry best standards to minimise disturbance to seagrass beds, sensitive habitats, and the seabed. By carefully positioning and maintaining moorings, we help prevent scouring, chain drag, and seabed damage that result from neglected or poorly installed systems.
Services we provide
We specialise in comprehensive mooring solutions across northern and northeastern Tasmania. Whether it’s a new installation, routine servicing, relocation, or regulatory assistance, we provide reliable, professional, and environmentally responsible services. All with our promise of any mooring, any time.
New Mooring Installation
We make setting up a new mooring simple, fast, and stress-free. From design to installation, we work closely with MAST to ensure your mooring meets all regulatory requirements and is perfectly suited to your location. Once your MAST authorisation and site approval are in place, we’ll install your mooring promptly and professionally, using high-quality chains, ropes, and fittings for maximum durability and safety.
Inspections and Servicing of Existing Moorings
We provide reliable, scheduled inspections and servicing to keep your mooring in top condition year-round. Our detailed checks cover every component, and we only use premium-grade chain, rope, swivels, and shackles to ensure long-lasting performance. If any issues are identified, we’ll contact you directly to discuss the best solution. After every service, we report to MAST, giving you complete peace of mind.
Mooring Relocation, Including Moorings
Moorings don’t always stay where they’re meant to. Storms, strong currents, and shifting seabeds can move them, creating safety risks for your vessel and others. We offer expert mooring relocation services, carefully repositioning or reinstalling moorings to their proper location. Using high-quality chains, ropes, and hardware, we ensure your mooring is secure, compliant with MAST regulations, and ready to perform reliably.
Mooring Removal
Whether you’re upgrading, relocating, or decommissioning a mooring, we make removal safe, efficient, and hassle-free. Our team carefully dismantles and removes all components, ensuring minimal impact on the seabed and surrounding environment.
Applying for a New Mooring Location from MAST
Navigating a new mooring application can be complex, but we’re here to help. We guide you through the process, liaise directly with MAST, and provide expert advice on site selection to ensure your application is smooth and stress-free.
Notifying MAST When a Mooring Has Been Serviced
Keeping MAST informed of mooring inspections and servicing is essential for compliance and peace of mind. After every service, we ensure that MAST is promptly notified, giving you confidence that your mooring meets all regulatory standards and is safe for us.

Marine and Safety Tasmania
Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST) require all mooring permit holders to:
Have the mooring lifted out of the water and inspected at least once in every two years
Retain maintenance records for the mooring. MAST may request proof the mooring has been maintained at any time
Mooring permit holders must ensure that the mooring device is capable for its intended use
Regular checks of the mooring head rope must be made to ensure it is protected from chafe.
MAST Web Based Mooring and Facilities GIS Mapping System
MAST has developed a web-based mooring and facilities mapping system that is now available for public use. The map shows mooring positions and mooring permit numbers in the various bays and rivers where moorings have been allowed. By using your mouse you can zoom in or out and take a snapshot of an area. The system also shows MAST managed navigations aids as well as those owned and maintained by TasPorts and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
